چکیده

When a signal goes through a system having a static, nonlinear transfer function, the output signal will be distorted. In addition to it, the detected output signal is usually contaminated by noise, due to the noisy environment. If we compensate the nonlinearity with its inverse, the expected value of the output signal will be different from it's original one, due to the nonlinearly distorted noise. If this difference is not acceptable, we have to use a different compensation function. In this paper we will show an iterative method, which can produce a unbiased compensation function in the knowledge of the original nonlinear distortion and the noise distribution. The resulted output signal has the same expected value as the original one.

Magnetic Resonance in Medicine 71:1760–1770 (2014) Monte Carlo SURE-Based Parameter Selection for Parallel Magnetic Resonance Imaging Reconstruction

Purpose: Regularizing parallel magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) reconstruction significantly improves image quality but requires tuning parameter selection. We propose a Monte Carlo method for automatic parameter selection based on Stein’s unbiased risk estimate that minimizes the multichannel k-space mean squared error (MSE). We automatically tune parameters for image reconstruction methods th...

The Pixon Method of Image Reconstruction

The Pixon method is a high-performance, nonlinear image reconstruction method that provides statistically unbiased photometry and robust rejection of spurious sources. Relative to other methods, it can increase linear spatial resolution by a factor of a few and sensitivity by an order of magnitude or more. All of these benefits are achieved in computation times that can be orders of magnitude f...

Application of the fractional Fourier transform to image reconstruction in MRI.

The classic paradigm for MRI requires a homogeneous B(0) field in combination with linear encoding gradients. Distortions are produced when the B(0) is not homogeneous, and several postprocessing techniques have been developed to correct them. Field homogeneity is difficult to achieve, particularly for short-bore magnets and higher B(0) fields. Nonlinear magnetic components can also arise from ...

Nonlinear Image Processing Based on Optimization of Generalized Information Methods

A range of nonlinear image reconstruction procedures based on extremizing the generalized Shannon entropy, KullbackLeibler cross-entropy and Renyi information measures and proposed by the author in early papers is presented. The “generalization” assumes search for the solution over the space of real bipolar or complex functions. Such an approach allows, first, to reconstruct signals of any type...

Extending Unbiased Stereology of Brain Ultrastructure to Three-dimensional Volumes

Design and Measurements: Volumes are reconstructed by defining transformations that align the entire area of adjacent sections. Whole-field alignment requires rotation, translation, skew, scaling, and second-order nonlinear deformations. Such transformations are implemented by a linear combination of bivariate polynomials. Computer software for generating transformations based on user input is ...
